Use this template to create a competitor report that’s actually useful: what changed, why it matters, and what to do next. Great for agencies (pitches + retainers) and SaaS teams.

How to use this template

  1. Pick 3–7 direct competitors + 1 category leader.
  2. Choose the pages that signal strategy (home, pricing, key landing pages, offers).
  3. Fill out the sections below. Keep it short. Evidence > opinions.
  4. End with 3–5 actions you’ll take this week.

Report structure

1) Executive summary (10 lines)
What happened in the market this week? What changed? What matters? Include 3 bullets max.
2) Competitor moves (3–7 items)
For each: ChangeEvidenceImpact.
3) Positioning & messaging
What angles are competitors leaning into? Any new promises, proof, or pricing anchors?
4) Offers & pricing
Any promo changes, plan tweaks, trials, guarantees, bundles, shipping thresholds?
5) Acquisition & content
New landing pages, new segments, new content themes, new case studies.
6) Actions this week (3–5)
The only section that matters: what you will do next and why.
